  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Cinnamon Streusel

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (cold) for streusel

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract.
  • Gently combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until just mixed. Do not overwork the dough.
  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and shape into a disk about 2 cm thick.
  • Cut into 8 wedges and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Prepare the streusel by mixing brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle the streusel generously over each scone.
  • Bake for 18–22 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Keep all ingredients cold for the best texture. Avoid overmixing the dough to prevent dense scones. For extra flavor, you can add a light glaze after baking or mix in small apple pieces or chocolate chips.
