Two tall, condensation-covered glasses and a large glass pitcher in the background are filled with a vibrant pink-red cherry limeade over plenty of crushed ice. Each glass is elegantly garnished with a round lime wheel tucked inside, a fresh lime wedge on the rim, and a whole dark red sweet cherry with its stem. Scattered around the glasses on a grey concrete-textured surface are several whole fresh cherries with stems, a halved lime, and a small bowl of cherries blurred out in the background.

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Blender
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Large pitcher
  • Measuring Cups
  • Wooden spoon

Ingredients

Cherry Syrup Base

  • 2 cups fresh cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Liquid Mix-In

  • 3/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 4 cups cold water or sparkling water

Serving & Garnishes

  • ice cubes for serving
  • fresh lime slices for garnish
  • whole fresh cherries for garnish

Instructions

  • Add the pitted cherries, sugar, and 1 cup water to a saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sugar dissolves and the cherries soften and release their juices, about 5 minutes.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  • Transfer the cherry mixture to a blender and blend until completely smooth.
  • Pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl. Press gently with a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible while removing skins and excess pulp.
  • Transfer the strained cherry concentrate to a large pitcher.
  • Stir in the freshly squeezed lime juice until fully combined.
  • Add the cold water or sparkling water and stir well.
  • Fill serving glasses with ice cubes and pour the cherry limeade over the ice.
  • Garnish with fresh lime slices and whole cherries before serving.

Notes

Storage: Store finished limeade in an airtight pitcher in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Prep Ahead: Prepare the cherry concentrate up to 2 days in advance and mix with lime juice and water when ready to serve.
Frozen Cherries: Frozen cherries can be substituted for fresh cherries. Thaw slightly before cooking.
Flavor Adjustments: If the drink is too tart, add sweetener a tablespoon at a time. If too sweet, add extra lime juice gradually.
Variation: Use sparkling water for a fizzy version or blend with extra ice for a frozen slush-style drink.
Serving Tip: Freeze whole cherries and use them instead of ice cubes to prevent dilution.
